TODAY I WILL….. Make learning fun for my kids.

I had the opportunity to work for a home based head start program where we went into low income families homes and teach the parents how to teach their children without spending money.  We had all kinds of fun using everyday household items.  Today our action is to make learning for our kids fun.. Yes it is possible..  and without spending alot of money.. I have posted some links that will give you ideas.

These links will show you how to make puzzles out of cereal/snack boxes.

These links show you how to make snow globes with all types of jars.

These links are doorways  for you to choose the subject of learning you need help in..

Can’t forget the fun snack links:

If you don’t have children, do something today.. call a family member you haven’t talked to in a while.  Write an old fashioned letter to someone who is lonely.  Go out for your favorite ice cream.

Say it with me  “TODAY I WILL .. Make learning fun for my kids.”

The strongest families are built one moment at a time. It all starts with a simple step. Small, everyday decisions add up, and we’re here to help you get started.

What will you do today? Get home early? Play with your kids? Find a way to say “I love you” to your spouse? You might be surprised to see what happens.

Say “Today, I will …” and start building a stronger family.

I WILL LIGHTEN UP AND LAUGH MORE, this is today’s action.

This is the one thing I wish I would have learned a LOOOONG time ago. Not only for me but for my family.  I spent years and years being uptight and “acting like the adult” that I forgot how to laugh and have fun.. I thought that someone had to act like a grown up. I think to for me it was a fear of my kids getting hurt.. or husband doing something he shouldn’t.. The bible says in Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.  My spirit was so crushed and my bones were so dry that i was miserable.. my family was miserable.  I let is spread like a disease to my family.  They tried to have fun, but not me.. i had to be the serious one.. Well I am proud to tell you today that I have laughed more in the last 2 years than I have my whole life.. and I LOVE IT.. i can still be an adult and laugh too.. It was so bad that once I started changing, laughing, having fun my kids didn’t know how to accept it.. I would be laughing and hear myself laughing and stop cause i was sooo not used to it.. but I love it now.. It is so true that laughter is medicine to your heart!!  Sometimes our circumstances, choices, jobs and situations make us feel like we cant laugh or be happy.. well don’t listen to those lies from the enemy.. he only comes to kill, steal and destroy!! So choose this day to laugh .. then go home and laugh with your spouse, your kids, your animals.. whoever or whatever you have!!

Called to Keep Moving Forward

How would Jesus measure your spiritual growth today.. Would you be as happy as the little girl in the picture if Jesus himself measured your spiritual growth today based on your fruits of spiritual maturity?

Life today is busy.  Folks everywhere have schedules brimming with tasks and activities.  Some weeks , it’s hard enough to make sure the bills are paid, meals are cooked, and the laundry is done- let alone to keep up with job responsibilities and relationships.  Who has the time to focus on spiritual growth?  The difficult truth is that as believers, we don’t have an option: we either grow spiritually or become stagnant.  There is no middle ground.  What about you? Would you say that you’re maturing spiritually- becoming more and more like Jesus in the way you think, speak, and act?  Or is something holding you back in your relationship with Him?

Our spiritual growth ultimately depends on God as He perfects His work in us (Phil. 1:6)  But many Christians avoid doing their part to mature in the Lord because of what it will cost them.  They fail to realize that stalling their spiritual growth for the sake of worldly thing has a cost  of its own- one far more serious and burdensome.  This has all kinds of consequences, from making our relationships more difficult to weakening our ability to withstand temptation.

The wisest decision you can make is to set your heart , mind, and will on doing WHATEVER is necessary to grow up in Christ.

The fruit of Spiritual Maturity:

  • Spirit-controlled character (Galations 5:22-25)
  • Stability of sound doctrine (1 Tim. 4:6)
  • Passion for Christ and His calling (Phil. 3:7-14)
  • Increasing love for one another (1 Thess. 3:12-13)
  • Ability to gently exhort others (2 Tim. 2:24-26)
  • Discernment (Heb. 5:14)
  • Godly wisdom (James 3:13-18)
  • Increasing holiness in behavior (1 Peter 1:13-16)

Open your heart to the Lord and ask Him to reveal what you can do to keep moving forward.  He may want you to give something up, or take something on.  In any case, remember: Obedience always brings blessings- NOW AND IN ETERNITY!

My personal walk through affliction… it’s easy to read a magazine article and get good info about adversity as i have typed below… but when someone tells me how they have conquered their own adversity it is easier to listen to and believe that I too could survive the “chisel”.  I am very thankful for God sculpting me.  Now had you asked me that question 2 yrs ago i would not have the same answer.  If you yourself feel like you are swamped and drowning in adversity.. Hang on.. God is just creating a master piece!!! Everything you are going through is in His plan.. Unless like me had mad soooooooooo many wrong choices it took me years to get out of all my wrong choices.. then God still had to work on me.. Hang on… This was my favorite scripture while i was going through my changes Romans 8:37 nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loves me! I would quote that over and over and over and over… along with MANY of my other faith building scriptures.. Fill your mind with scripture.. post them everywhere as reminders that you will make it through this adversity.. OH YEAH… it never stops… lol i there is always some way that the enemy brings things from your past up that you thought you had gotten rid of and conquered.. he brings it up and you are faced with conquering it again.. and don’t forget the wrong decisions… we are not perfect and we will make wrong decisions and have to deal with the adversity of them too… ❤

Picture the Lord as a master sculptor standing before a block of marble-that slab is YOU.  He lovingly and carefully chips away at everything that does not fit the masterpiece He’s creating.  One of the first areas the Lord deals with your character.  His goal is to shape you into the image of His Son. and there are some traits and attitudes ( yes.. those that just popped into your head) that must be chipped away in order for Him to accomplish the task.  His chisel lays bare roots of sin and selfishness.  When anything or anyone becomes more important to us than the Lord, we have an idol in our lives.  To protect us, God sometimes uses adversity to strip away everything we have relied upon so that we’ll cling only to Him.  The chisel hurts- it sometimes feels as if God is taking away everything we hold dear.  Unless you understand His goal and believe He’s working for your good, you’ll think he is cruel.  But if you trust Him and yield to His shaping tool of adversity, your faith will be purified and strengthened through affliction.
